The Royal Holloway and Bedford New College originally a women-only college, was founded by the Victorian entrepreneur Thomas Holloway in 1879 on the Mount Lee Estate in Egham. Notable alumni is Sharifa Dina bint Abdul-Hamid, former Queen of Jordan. Another one is Marilynne Morgan, a barrister and retired top civil servant. And also Sir Andrew Charles Parmley, a principal of the Harrodian School in Barnes, and was the Lord Mayor of London for 2016–17.
