    The Glasgow School of Art was founded in 1845 as the Glasgow Government School of Design, the school changed its name to The Glasgow School of Art in 1853.  It was first located at 12 Ingram Street and moved to the McLellan Galleries in 1869.  Notable alumni is Norman McLaren, a Scottish Canadian animator, director and producer known for his work for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).  Another one is Simon Starling, an English conceptual artist and won the Turner Prize in 2005.  And also John Glashan was a Scottish cartoonist, illustrator and playwright. He was the creator of the "Genius" cartoons.
